When a budding love dies on the vine, even the scent of an apple spice candle at a corner cafe is a shriveled flower pedal fluttering to the edge of your cluttered mind; a subtle pin-prick reminder of what was, and what was lost.

Atlantic City psych-rockers Te Vista serve up such sour grapes by the goblet on “Corpse,” the final single off the outfit’s debut full-length collection House, a Boxing Day release on streaming platforms everywhere.
Like a gang of beach-combing vampires, Te Vista underscores Growlers’ inspired melodies with layers of folky choruses that contemplate when and why a stake was run through the heart of this lost romance.
“Scented candles, flavored whiskey / Crystal lamps make you feel at home / Lying next to me, filled with ecstasy / Where did I go wrong? Got the best of me, waiting patiently, waiting to come home.”
“Corpse” is the jangling post-punk introduction to a Te Vista repertoire rooted in ‘ ’60s and ’70s pop and psych. Stream the single, and House in full, below, and be sure to catch Te Vista when they hit Philadelphia on Jan. 23 at Jerry’s on Front.
