They’re Ogbert the Nerd…always have been, always will be. But even the “only emo band in New Jersey” isn’t immune to having its collective heart grow three times the size amongst the cheerful tidings and goodwill of the holiday season.

During the first week of December, the New Brunswick outfit and Central Jersey heartland punks Jon Caspi and the First Gun co-headlined a food drive concert at North Shore School of Music in Hazlet Township.

It was during this benefit gig that the duo debuted a diabolical rendition of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” transforming the iconic verses of this Christmas classic into Yuletide TNT. Underscored by gang snarls of “like a light bulb,” and bridged by a sizzling fuse guitar solo, neither Gene Autry nor Burl Ives could have ever dreamed up such a supercharged take on this traditional reindeer game.
